Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted on here since the end of August! The break was definitely needed and well worth it. The biggest news since posting last is that DH got a new full-time, non-commission job in October!! It's in sales, he's good at it, and he gets benefits.
As for the TTC thing...we "tried" on our own every cycle while on the break, but without success. We made the decision (with the advice/referral from my OB/GYN) to see a new Reproductive Endocrinologist, Dr. M. That appointment was two weeks ago. I was able to get DH to go to the appointment with me. We both really liked the clinic staff, the nurse practitioner, Sue and Dr. M. They both took the time to review all of my records that I brought in and faxed to them.
Dr. M did an ultrasound since I was on CD10 and found a 13mm follie on my left ovary and I believe my lining was around 8mm. He said that I've seen a lot of doctors, come at this from a lot of different angles, and have had a lot of testing done--maybe even a bit more than he would normally do. He basically said we have three choices...go home and do nothing; do IUI with injectables; do IVF. We discussed our hesitancy for IVF--finances, multiples, and worry over having leftover embryos. He said most people don't have leftovers to freeze...definitely less than 50% do, said the biology of it is that embryos just aren't that great--either the egg is bad or the sperm is bad or they are bad together. He wouldn't transfer more than two, especially in me with my small frame. In his 30 years of practice, he has only had 4 sets of quads, a handful of triplets and many twins (I think he said a busful or two).
As for IUI, he said to forget the oral drugs...been there, done that! He recommends Follistim with one IUI, and would like to stim me to 3 or 4 eggs since one isn't cutting it. He also said he will do a total of 6 IUIs, and I believe we did 2 back in 2008. Depending on how stuff goes, I'm guessing I'll be able to get 3 IUIs with my insurance coverage.
We also briefly discussed FET of donated embryos. This clinic does not have a program, but if we are matched with embryos either thru ReproTech (a cryo storage bank--which has a 2-3 year wait list!) or private party, they would do the FET. All good to know. I need to put our name on the list at ReproTech just in case since the wait there is so long.
So, now we wait and see what happens with this current natural cycle. I will know in about a week or so and if I'm not pregnant, we'll start IUI/Follistim with monitoring.
I'm really excited to have a plan again. I don't regret seeing Dr. H in Omaha at all, am grateful for all he did for me, but I just feel I've come to a point that I need to be treating with a local doctor with monitoring. I look forward to 2012 and all that may come with it!! :)
